There is quite a story behind this very special, limited batch of honey from Mike Donkin of Wolwekloof Nature Gardens, just outside Greyton.

When the devastating fires swept through the area on 12 January 2026, Mike’s property was badly affected and his beehives were singed by the flames. Rather than lose everything, Mike carefully rescued the precious combs and was able to harvest the surviving honey—creating a remarkable small batch with a story of resilience behind every jar.

The bees forage among the fynbos surrounding Greyton, producing a truly local honey that reflects the landscape from which it comes. Only a handful of jars were produced from this fire-surviving harvest, making each one particularly rare.
