Greyton’s Pedro Heads to the World Championships

Local resident Pedro Martins has been selected to represent South Africa at the Croquet World Championships in Egypt later this year – an incredible achievement for any athlete. What makes Pedro’s story even more remarkable is that he has only been playing croquet for around six months.

To rise from beginner to international competitor in such a short time speaks volumes about his natural talent, commitment and passion for the sport. Now Greyton has an opportunity to help him get there.

Friends and supporters have launched a fundraising campaign to assist Pedro with the costs of travel to Egypt and competing in the championships. As part of the fundraising effort, a special limited-edition raffle is being held, with a wonderful prize: a two-night stay for two people at Garden Route Game Lodge, including breakfast, dinner and two game drives.

Only 30 raffle tickets are available, so supporters are encouraged to act quickly. Ticket sales close on 15 August, or sooner if all 30 tickets have been sold. The lucky winner will be drawn at the monthly fundraising dinner at The Central Pub on 17 August.

Let’s get behind Pedro and show what Greyton does best – supporting local talent and helping one of our own pursue a dream. We wish him every success as he prepares to represent South Africa, and Greyton, at the World Championships in Egypt.
