One of Greyton’s most loved events is back in full bloom this October — the Greyton Rose and Garden Fair. With roots reaching back 34 years, the Rose Fair was first started by former Mayor Sakkie Buys in 1991, inspired by the valley’s love of roses and its perfect growing conditions.
The Rose Show: Held in the Anglican Church Hall (just behind the Saturday market), open to all on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October. Greytonians are encouraged to bring stems of their favourite roses on Friday 24 October, which will be added to a shared display — with prizes awarded for the most eye-catching blooms across several fun categories.
Open Gardens: Ten village gardens will be open to the public from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 October. The locations are kept secret until the weekend to add a touch of excitement.
Don’t miss the Miss Rose and Miss Rosebud pageant at Greyton Primary in Heuwelkroon on Friday 24 October at 7:30pm.
Tickets and Maps to the Open Gardens available for R100 per person at The Greyton Post and Van Heerden Art Gallery (Oak & Vigne Courtyard). Tickets can also be pre-booked online at Quicket.
This year’s proceeds will support 10 Early Childhood Development centres across the valley under the Valley ECD umbrella.
