Dearest Readers,
As winter draws to an end and spring peeps around the corner, one feels it’s time to pick up one’s fan (and pen) for a few seasonal reflections.
Firstly, might I gently suggest a collective spring clean? With fruit trees flirting with blossom and fynbos bursting forth in optimism, surely it’s time for our beloved village to do the same. A fresh coat of paint, spruced-up shopfronts, and the removal of bygone posters would do wonders.
Speaking of putting our best foot forward, congratulations to Montagu for their well-earned Best Dorpie win. But let’s not hang up our bonnets just yet — Greyton remains a worthy contender as we were indeed finalists this year.
We must also put our clever minds together. How do we entice visitors to enjoy our delights midweek? With sushi, homemade curries, dreamy gnocchi, galleries, gift shops, countryside trails, yoga, wine, and hidden spas — surely weekdays can shine as brightly as weekends.
With the Rose Fair and Open Gardens fast approaching, now’s the perfect excuse to bedeck our windows with roses — real or lovingly crafted. A village blooming with pride and petals would surely rival the charm of a Cotswoldian village.
